Traverse City Comedy Arts Festival

Do you need a cure for a bad case of cabin fever this winter? If you believe "laughter is the best medicine," then we have the event for you...the Second Annual Traverse City Comedy Arts Festival! This four day event is sure to be a big hit with some of the nation's top comedians performing at venues throughout downtown, and some classic comedies shown on the big screen at the State Theater.

This year the festival will be headlined by Bob Sagot, Caroline Rhea, Comedy Central Roast Master Jeffery Ross and Michael Moore. That's right, even the producer, writer and festival founder is joining this year's acts by starring in his own stand-up show. This years list also includes the return of the "Comedy4Kids" act that is an awesome show for families to enjoy on Saturday afternoon.

The festival will run from February 10-13th. Tickets for all of the events will be on sale beginning on January 30th at the festival's website or at the State Theater box office. They range in price from free to $30 for the Bob Sagot performance. Festival organizers have made sure that there are events at the festival that can be attended by all regardless of financial concerns. January 29th - 30th Traverse City Outdoor Hockey Classic

Making its debut in Traverse City...Outdoor Hockey!The tournament will feature several age groups with four - on -four hockey, played on a pond with no boards or glass surrounding the ice surface. January 29th Downtown Chili Cook-off

This event is sure to take the chill off of winter. Area restaurants show off their culinary skills in a "competition" that feeds more than 1000 attendees each year. The event will be held at the Park Place Dome from 11am until 3pm.

February 5th - 6th Taste the Passion

The Leelanau Vintners Association will be presenting this annual event that combines some of life's greatest pleasures: wine, chocolates and love. The wineries will be offering special pairings of wine and chocolates in anticipation of the upcoming Valentine's Day holiday. Space is limited, so checkout their website today!

The second annual Traverse City Comedy Arts Festival will be taking place during the Valentine's Day weekend in 2011. Improv and stand-up comedy acts, along with films that will tickle the funny bone.

February 12th - 13th Annual North American VASA Ski Race

The VASA race has become a treasured event for the northern Michigan region. The weekend features many cross country ski races for all skills levels and ages. Hundreds of spectators also come to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Pere Marquette State Forest. This is a great event for all Nordic ski enthusiasts!

February 12th Romancing the Riesling on Old Mission

The Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula will hosting a weekend devoted to Riesling varietal. Food parings and special tastings will be conducted at each of the seven wineries on the Old Mission Peninsula.

February 12th TC Winter Microbrew and Music Festival
